Reptiles, Music, Science Coming to Chathams Green Fair

Hands-on experiments, singer-songwriter will be draws at sixth annual event.

A reptile show, a performance by a family music singer-songwriter and hands-on science activities will be among the draws at the Green Fair of the Chathams next month, organizers have announced.

Rizzo's Reptiles, Big Jeff Music and Vinny Voltage are lined up to perform at the sixth annual event, scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21, at Reasoner Park and Railroad Plaza North, according to a fair news release.

Admission is free.

"Vinny Voltage" performs a science show with hands-on scientific activities, while Big Jeff DeSmedt is an award-winning family music singer-songwriter with hits including “Big Pterodactyl in the Sky” and “The Orange Song.”

“Rizzo’s Reptiles, the popular reptile education and entertainment show, will be back this year,” Green Fair Chair John Bitar said.

Nature’s Freshest Juice, which has also been featured at the Chatham Borough Farmers’ Market, also is expected to be at the fair.

Chatham Township Committeewoman Kathy Abbott said the Chatham Township Environmental Commission is sponsoring the Green Fair appearances by Vinny Voltage and by Big Jeff.

“The 2013 Green Fair of the Chathams is coming together really well,” John Tancredi, chair of the Chatham Borough Environmental Commission, said.
