Heat Advisory In Effect For Morris County Tuesday

Temperatures are expected to reach the high 90s this week in Morris County, according to the National Weather Service.

MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — With temperatures expected to reach the high 90s this week, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for Morris County.

The warning will be in effect until 8 p.m. Wednesday. According to the NWS, heat illnesses can occur as a result of high temperatures and humidity.

According to the NWS, the high temperature in Morris County towns will be 92 degrees on Tuesday, and 95 degrees on Wednesday and Thursday.

The temperature is expected to remain above 90 degrees throughout the weekend.

The NWS issues a heat advisory when the combination of heat and humidity is expected to make it feel like it's 95 to 99 degrees for two or more days in a row or 100 to 104 degrees for any length of time.

Homes without air conditioning can be significantly hotter than the outside temperature. The NWS advises people to use air conditioning at home or go to a place with air conditioning to stay cool.

According to the NWS, seniors and those with chronic health problems or mental health conditions are at a higher risk.

To reduce risk while working outside, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration recommends taking frequent rest breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas and staying hydrated.

People suffering from heat stroke are advised to dial 9-1-1.
