Heavy Rain Triggers Flood Watch In Morris County: NWS
Heavy rainfall on Tuesday may result in flash flooding across Morris County, according to an advisory from the National Weather Service.
MORRIS COUNTY, NJ — A flood watch and hazardous weather outlook have been issued for Morris County, as heavy rains are predicted to slam the county Tuesday night into Wednesday.
One to three inches of rainfall are expected in the Morris County area, which may result in flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, according to the National Weather Service.
The watch is in effect through 8 p.m. on Tuesday, according to forecasters.

Widespread showers with possible thunderstorms are expected Tuesday. The rain showers could be heavy at times and could slowly move over the same areas, resulting in flash flooding, the NWS said.
"Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas," NWS said.

The Passaic River in Chatham is current at around 3.49 feet of water and is expected to rise to about 3.7 feet on Tuesday, according to the NWS. The NWS considers a flood stage to be around 6 feet of water height.

Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 72. East wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.
Tuesday night:
Showers are likely, mainly before 3 a.m. Cloudy, with a low of around 63. Northeast wind around 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
Wednesday:
Showers are likely, mainly between 7 a.m. and 2 p.m. Patchy fog before 11 am. Otherwise, cloudy, with a high near 70. Northeast wind around 10 mph. The chance of precipitation is 60%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
Wednesday night:
A chance of showers, mainly before 2 a.m. Patchy fog after 2 am. Otherwise, mostly cloudy, with a low around 60. North wind around 5 mph. The chance of precipitation is 30%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch are possible.
