ICYMI: Former Chatham BOE Rep Busted For DWI: Cops

John Nonnenmacher was reported to police by an off-duty cop, Chief said.

Chatham, N.J. – The Chatham resident and former school board member who charged with leaving the scene of an accident last year is in hot water again, this time for being charged with driving while impaired.

At 9:18 p.m. on June 27, Officers Lampf and Lattoz of the Chatham Township Police Department stopped a vehicle on Fairmount Avenue when an off-duty officer reported the driver’s inability to maintain his lane of travel, Chief Steven Hennelly said.

During an investigation, the officers found John Nonnenmacher, 52, of Chatham, to be driving while impaired after he failed a roadside test, Hennelly said.

More charges are pending and Nonnenmacher’s vehicle was towed from the scene. He’s scheduled to appear in court in July.

In November of 2015, Nonnenmacher was charged with leaving the scene of an accident after hitting a fire hydrant while he was driving with a suspended license.

Nonnenmacher then resigned his post on the board the following month, and it was learned he had 16 license suspensions over the past 21 years. He was under a 60-day suspension at the time of his November crash.
