The Chatham Borough Police Department has charged a Summit man for taking a car and a bicycle in two separate incidents.
CHATHAM, NJ — A Summit man faces separate charges in Chatham Borough, the first stemming from a car that police say he took and the other, a bicycle.
The Chatham Borough Police Department reports that the unidentified, 29-year-old man from Summit was first charged on Oct. 26 for taking a car from a Chatham Borough business on an unspecified date, Michael Bochniak, a spokesperson from the department, said in a news release.

Summit’s Police Department first charged him after he was stopped there in the car, Bochniak stated, before he was charged in Chatham Borough, where he additionally faces burglary and trespassing charges, along with the theft.
Two days later on Oct. 28, the man was charged again with theft, this time for being spotted taking a bicycle on surveillance footage from a River Road location on Oct. 27, Bochniak added. It was on Oct. 28 that responding officers caught up with him on Watchung Avenue after the camera on River Road picked him up returning the bike; and someone then saw him standing in front of a Watchung Avenue business.
