Motorcyclist Faces 'Life-Threatening Injuries' After Box Truck Hit In Chatham
Chatham Borough's Police Department reports several departments helped at the scene, the motorcyclist taken to Morristown Medical Center.
CHATHAM, NJ — More charges may be coming for a truck driver who hit a motorcyclist in Chatham Borough on Friday, according to the police department.
Lt. Ralph Colatrella, a spokesperson for the police department, said the collision happened late Friday morning at about 10:35 a.m., after the unidentified box truck driver crashed into the motorcycle at North Passaic Avenue and Harvard Street.
The unknown motorcyclist, 59 from East Hanover, was rushed to Morristown Medical Center with “serious, life-threatening injuries,” Colatrella stated in a news release.

The truck driver faces careless driving charges “and may be issued additional summonses pending the outcome of the investigation,” Colatrella reported.
Madison and Livingston Police Departments, as well as the Chatham Fire Department, Chatham Emergency Squad and medics from Atlantic Health, responded to the crash.

The police department's traffic unit and detective bureau are conducting a joint investigation with the Morris County Sheriff's Office Crime Scene Investigation Section, Colatrella said.
