Open Houses Happening For Chatham Township, Green Village Fire Departments
Green Village Fire Department's open house is on Sunday, Oct. 3 and Chatham Township's is on Saturday, Oct. 9.
CHATHAM, NJ — The Green Village Fire Department and Chatham Township Fire Department are each hosting their own open houses in October.
Green Village Fire Department’s Fire Prevention Week Open House is happening on Sunday, Oct. 3 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the firehouse on 529 Green Village Road.
There will be photo-ops, tours, chances to use a fire hose and food from the fire department and auxiliary for attendees, according to a news release from the department. Visit Green Village Fire Department’s website at www.greenvillagefire.com for more information.

The Chatham Township Volunteer Fire Department is additionally hosting its Community Appreciation Day and Open House at the department’s headquarters on 495 River Road on Saturday, Oct. 9 from 2 to 7 p.m.
Food trucks from Mexican Spice, Cat Like Reflexes, Avellino’s Pizza and Mike’s Ice Cream are expected to be there. The fire department is additionally planning on activities to test out attendees’ fire skills, live music from What’s What, a beer and wine garden for adults attending and bounce house and slide for kids.

“The relationship between the Chatham Volunteer Fire Department and the nearly 10,000 residents that we serve is a special one,” said Richard Gentles, the department’s president. “It is a partnership. As an independent 501c3, the CTVFD relies on that partnership to provide life-saving services to the community.”
At Chatham Township’s event, attendees will also be able to explore the volunteer firefighting opportunity to serve with the department.
“The CTVFD is a family,” Chief Mat Lemons said in a news release about the upcoming event. “We have many members that have been with us less than a year and for more than 50 years. Many of those who answer the 350+ calls each year are your friends and neighbors.”
