Snow, Low Wind Chills Could Hit Chatham

CHATHAM, NJ — Another round of snow has been forecast for the Chatham area overnight Wednesday into Thursday.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory through 11 a.m. on Thursday, with the potential for three inches of snow possible, creating the possibility of slippery road conditions for the morning commute.

The storm is likely begin as rain on Wednesday night before it transitions to snow overnight into Thursday, the National Weather Service forecasts.

Ahead of the storm, Chatham Borough posted some winter weather driving tips, suggesting that spots could become slippery as surfaces thaw and then re-freeze:

A temperature drop is expected to follow on Thursday, plunging from 29 to 10 degrees overnight into Friday, with the possibility of wind chills hovering around zero on Thursday night.

Through Thursday Morning: Rain, mainly after 4am. Low around 31. West wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Thursday: Snow, mainly before noon. Temperature falling to around 29 by 4pm. North wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible.

Thursday Night: Mostly cloudy, with a low around 10. Wind chill values as low as zero. North wind around 10 mph, with gusts as high as 20 mph.

Friday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 22. Wind chill values as low as -1. North wind around 10 mph.

Friday Night: A slight chance of snow after 2am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 8. North wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday: A slight chance of snow before 2pm. Mostly sunny, with a high near 26. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

Saturday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 14.
