76 Arrested in Camden County Sheriff Sweep

The sting closed out 102 active warrants worth nearly $1.4 million.

Seventy-six people were arrested in a two-day, statewide sweep of wanted persons last week, according to a statement from the Camden County Sheriff’s Office.

The sting captured people wanted on 102 active warrants totaling more than $1.39 million, and led to additional charges being filed against individuals arrested during the operation.

Those arrested were wanted mostly on child support charges, according to the release. Additional charges filed included possession of controlled dangerous substances and resisting arrest.

“This operation sends a clear, loud message that we mean business and skipping on your child support payment is not a joke,” said Sheriff Chuck Billingham in a statement.

The arrests "represent a small subsection of the 2,147 active Camden County fugitives with more than 6,000 total active warrants," according to the statement.
