Bank Robber Who Fled To Ukraine Brought Back To Camden Co.: Prosecutor
The man fled to the war-torn nation just days after a string of bank robberies, authorities said.

A man accused of robbing several South Jersey banks before fleeing to Ukraine was brought back to the United States on Friday and placed in the Camden County Jail.
Edward Deveaux, of Berlin Township, robbed three South Jersey banks within a week in September 2022, according to the Camden County Prosecutor's Office. He was charged in the ensuing days but had been on the run until authorities captured him on Feb. 25 in Lviv, Ukraine. Read more: South Jersey Bank Robber Fled To Ukraine: Prosecutor
On Friday, the National Guard of Ukraine turned Deveaux over to U.S. Marshals and Polish police during a meeting at the Korczowa border checkpoint between Ukraine and Poland. The FBI assisted in the exchange.

Deveaux, 30, was flown from Warsaw, Poland, to Newark and placed in the Camden County Correctional Facility that day.
"The arrest and extradition of this defendant, who fled roughly 4,500 miles away, is a testament to what we can accomplish when law enforcement at all levels works together," said Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay. "We are grateful for the efforts of the U.S. Marshals Service, FBI and our international colleagues."

Deveaux is accused of robbing the following banks in 2022:
- Sept. 22: Truist Bank in Waterford
- Sept. 26: TD Bank in Willingboro
- Sept. 28: Republic Bank in Winslow
During the fugitive investigation, authorities determined that in the days after the Winslow robbery, Deveaux flew to multiple European countries before entering Ukraine.
Additional information pinpointed Deveaux in Lviv — a city in western Ukraine near Poland's border.
Deveaux fled to Ukraine only months after Russia invaded the nation. Russia has repeatedly attacked Lviv during the ongoing war.
Ukrainian authorities arrested Deveaux while collaborating with the U.S. Marshals Service and the Department of Justice.
Deveaux did not have an attorney listed in online court records as of Wednesday morning.
