UPDATE: Cherry Hill East Open as Normal Tuesday Following Threat
The school was shut down after an unspecified threat Monday afternoon.

It’s back to class as normal at Cherry Hill East Tuesday, following Monday’s lockdown and early dismissal stemming from an unspecified threat discovered in a student bathroom, school officials said.
Cherry Hill Police and other law enforcement swept the building following the dismissal, which happened about 15 minutes before the school day would’ve ended, and determined the threat was groundless and the building was safe to open as scheduled Tuesday, Superintendent Maureen Reusche said in a statement.
The investigation is still ongoing into the threat, Reusche said, which was similar to one made in April, which also resulted in the school being locked down and evacuated.

Reusche called on parents and students to come forward with any information regarding the threat, and said any tips that come in will remain confidential.
“The responsible party or parties will face disciplinary measures and, perhaps, criminal charges,” Reusche said in her statement.

Students who left belongings in the building when the school was emptied can pick them up at 7:30 a.m. by stopping in their Period F classrooms, before heading to Period D to start Tuesday’s classes, Reusche said.
Deadlines for homework and tests scheduled for Tuesday have been pushed back as a result of the threat, Reusche said, and have been revised to the next scheduled meeting of that class.
Reusche praised the police response to the threat and students’ and staff’s cooperation in the situation.
“We recognize that a disruption of this nature is unsettling for some of our students,” Reusche said. “As always, our counselors, teachers, and other staff are here to provide support.”
