In an infographic posted alongside the statement, fire officials warned that grills placed too close to anything else that can burn is a fire hazard. Grease or fat buildup in trays below the grill should be cleaned, and grills should never be left unattended, the fire department stated.

Children and pets should also be kept at least three feet away from the grilling area, officials added.
