NJ Man Charged In Woman's Death Dies In Police-Involved Shooting: AG
The shooting, which involved members of the NJ State Police and the U.S. Marshals Service, took place at a rest stop in South Jersey.
PEDRICKTOWN, NJ — A Cherry Hill man charged with murder last week died during a police-involved shooting at a South Jersey rest stop off of the New Jersey Turnpike Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Kyle Foggy, 29, of Cherry Hill, was pronounced dead later that night at 10:16 p.m. at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office said in a Friday statement.
Foggy sustained a gunshot wound “in the presence of law enforcement” at around 1:45 p.m. at the New Jersey Turnpike’s Clara Barton Service Area in the Pedricktown section of Oldmans Township in Salem County, the Attorney General’s Office said. The incident involved members of the New Jersey State Police and the United States Marshals Service, the office added.
Foggy was charged with murder last week in the fatal shooting of Michelle Cruz, 28, of Lawnside, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said. The Cherry Hill man was also charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose in connection with the shooting. The prosecutor's office didn't disclose what events led up to the shooting. But a spokesperson for the agency told Patch that Cruz and Foggy had a prior dating relationship.
A review of the circumstances that led to the police-involved shooting is being conducted by the Integrity Bureau within the New Jersey Attorney General’s Office of Public Integrity and Accountability.
That review is ongoing. No further information is being released at this time, authorities said.
