Furniture Giant Coming To Cherry Hill Will Open New Store Soon

CHERRY HILL, NJ — IKEA is about to reach South Jersey, with a new concept store opening next week in Cherry Hill.

The furniture giant is bringing a "plan & order point" store to the Ellisburg Shopping Center, which opens June 18. Instead of walking through a path of furniture displays, customers can meet with IKEA staff to plan out purchases for delivery or scheduled pickups.

Customers won't be able to take items home that day. But they can arrange for delivery or schedule a time to retrieve orders from an IKEA Pick-up location.

The concept stores are considerably smaller than the flagship IKEA locations. At 1,979 square feet, IKEA will have one of the smallest footprints in the Ellisburg Shopping Center.

IKEA Cherry Hill will hold a grand-opening celebration at 11 a.m. June 18, offering tours, food sampling and giveaways for the first 100 visitors.

This will be IKEA's only brick-and-mortar store in South Jersey. Typically, IKEA shopping has required crossing the Delaware River into Philadelphia.

However, the Plan & order point stores do not sell food. So if you're looking for IKEA meatballs, you may still need to trek to their South Philly location.

IKEA tested the regional waters by opening a Kitchen Planning Pop-Up Shop two years ago at Cherry Hill Mall. The shop was still open earlier this year, but it is no longer listed in the mall's directory.

The new Cherry Hill store (22 Route 70) will have the following hours:

• Weekdays: 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.
• Weekends: 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
