Voorhees Man Indicted In Wife's Homicide

A grand jury returned an indictment charging Shawn Lichtfuss with first-degree murder in the death of his wife, according to authorities.

VOORHEES, NJ — A Camden County man has been indicted in connection with the death of his wife, Acting Camden County Prosecutor Jill S. Mayer announced on Friday.

Shawn Lichtfuss, 49 of Voorhees, was arrested in connection with the death of his 38-year-old wife, Stefanie Caraway, in August. On Friday, it was announced that a grand jury returned an indictment charging him with first-degree murder.

Voorhees police said they received a call just before 11 a.m. on Aug. 3, informing them that Lichtfuss had been sending text messages that he intended to harm himself.

Police responded to his home in the Village Apartments just after 11 a.m. After they didn't get a response at the door, they entered the home, police said.

Once inside, they found Caraway’s body, according to authorities. Lichtfuss was not home at that time, police said.

An autopsy showed that Caraway's cause of death was neck compression and the manner of death was homicide, according to authorities.

At about 6 p.m., Lichtfuss was found in a parked car at the Royal Farms next to the police station, where he was arrested, police said.

Lichtfuss has a post-indictment arraignment scheduled for Nov. 1.
