BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — A lottery ticket sold in Burlington County generated $40,000. But the historically large Mega Millions jackpot remains up for grabs, reaching $1.25 billion for Friday's drawing.

The Mega Millions hasn't produced a jackpot winner since mid-April. But a ticket sold at Wawa (1115 Route 73, Mount Laurel) earned significant winnings in Tuesday's contest.

The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the Gold Mega Ball, which would've yielded a third-tier, $10,000 prize on its own. But since it was purchased with the Megaplier option, the winnings quadrupled.

Wawa's in Burlington County have been lucky lately. A Powerball ticket sold at one of the retailer's Marlton stores generated $1 million last weekend.

The next Mega Millions drawing takes place at 11 p.m. Friday. Participants must purchase tickets before 10:45 p.m. that evening to qualify.

Mega Millions tickets cost $2 each. By adding the Megaplier option for an additional dollar per play, participants can increase their non-jackpot winnings up to five times.

If claimed, the $1.25 billion jackpot would represent the sixth-largest prize in U.S. lottery history. The odds of winning stand at roughly 1 in 302.6 million.
