CINNAMINSON, NJ — If you’re like many of your Cinnaminson neighbors, you may spend a good part of the holiday season with your credit card in hand buying gifts for family and friends. Coming up soon is a chance to give back to the local community.
Giving Tuesday, which in 2024 falls on Dec. 3, is a day dedicated to supporting nonprofit and community groups. Since 2012, nonprofits worldwide have used the Tuesday after Thanksgiving to galvanize fundraising, rally volunteers and add momentum to their causes.
Maintaining funding is a constant challenge for many nonprofits that fill gaps and meet other needs in the Cinnaminson area.

Here are five local nonprofits to consider getting behind on Giving Tuesday:
- Dream Alive Foundation of New Jersey: The nonprofit provides free and low-cost immigration services, advocacy and education to low-income families.
- Hunter's Heroes Foundation: Created in Lt. Christopher Hunter's memory, the foundation helps libraries offer books to help train firefighters and first responders.
- Food Bank of South Jersey: The Food Bank of South Jersey exists to provide immediate solutions to hunger by providing food to people in need, teaching them to eat nutritiously and helping them find sustainable ways to improve their lives.
- Burlington County Footlighters: The community theater is raising funds for vital facility repairs and stage productions.
- Riverton Steamboat Landing Foundation: The foundation ensures that the historic steamboat pier at Riverton will be maintained and cherished for another 150 years.
