Back to School, 9/11 Ceremony Highlight Week Ahead

Also, find out what's on township committee's agenda Monday and get your votes in now to help the Cinnaminson boys lacrosse team win a sportsmanship contest.

It's a busy week in Cinnaminson.

Monday marks the official end of summer/first day of school for Cinnaminson School District and Westfield Friends School students. The former return to the classroom with a new school resource officer (SRO) roaming the halls, and the latter welcome a new headmaster to the fold.

If you're looking for some simple, helpful back-to-school tips, important dates on the school calendar, or are curious just how safe your child's bus is, we've got you covered.

Township committee convenes Monday night for a work session at 7:30 in the municipal building. Among the items on their agenda are a shared services agreement with Moorestown, discussion of the county's single-stream recycling program and hiring a police officer to replace new SRO Michael Czarzasty

On Wednesday, the township will hold its annual 9/11 ceremony, with a little added flair this year. The township will unveil and dedicate a piece of steel from the World Trade Center during the ceremony, which this year will take place at the municipal building. Fire Chief Bill Kramer, Public Safety Director Mickey King and Burlington County Sheriff Jean Stanfield will all speak, as well as a citizen guest speaker, with Sen. Diane Allen providing the closing remarks. The ceremony begins at 6 p.m.

And make sure to vote for the Cinnaminson boys lacrosse team this week (if you haven't already) in MedExpress's excellent sportsmanship contest. The boys are being recognized for their touching show of support for a Cinnaminson mother suffering from breast cancer. If they win, they could get up to $3,000 toward the upcoming season. The deadline to vote is Saturday (Sept. 14).
