Bridge Closing For 4 Months In Burlington County
Disruptions to traffic are expected as the bridge undergoes maintenance.
PENNSAUKEN, NJ — A bridge on the border of Camden and Burlington counties is closing for several months because of maintenance work.
Beginning Sept. 5, River Road will be closed 24/7 between Route 73 and John Tipton Boulevard for work on River Road Bridge. Full closures will remain in the place during the project, which officials expect to last until January.
The bridge's diaphragms and bearings will get replaced during that time.

River Road Bridge crosses Pennsauken Creek just south of Route 73, around the border of Palmyra and Pennsauken. The Burlington County Bridge Commission, which owns the bridge, is financing the $1.3 million project.
The project will likely disrupt traffic, but it will be worth it in the end, says Camden County Commissioner Al Dyer, a Pennsauken resident.

"I know this will cause disruptions for my neighbors and their daily commute, but this short-term disturbance will provide all of us with long term peace of mind when it's finished," Dyer said in a statement. "Projects such as these are essential to ensuring our county's infrastructure continues to be in top condition for years to come."
During the closures, access to the Pennsauken Township Sanitary Landfill will remain open But all trucks must enter and exit from the John Tipton Boulevard side of the site.
Emergency vehicles will be allowed to cross the bridge.
