Burlington Co. Woman Injured In North Jersey Hammer Attack: Police
A 28-year-old Burlington County woman was assaulted by hammer-wielding man in North Jersey Monday afternoon, police said.
HACKETTSTOWN, NJ - A 28-year-old Burlington County woman was assaulted by hammer-wielding man in North Jersey Monday afternoon, police said.
Hackettstown police responded to the assault near the Douglas Blake Memorial Field (140 Willow Grove Street) at around 2:46 p.m., police said in a news release.
An investigation later found that a 42-year-old man from Mansfield assaulted a 28-year-old woman from the same town with a hammer, police said. The victim “suffered significant facial injuries” and was flown to Morristown Medical Center. The windows to her vehicle were also smashed.

The man, who was unidentified in the news release, was charged with aggravated assault, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, simple assault with a deadly weapon and criminal mischief, police said.
He is being lodged in the Warren County Correctional Facility pending a court appearance.

“This was an isolated incident and there is no threat or danger to the public,” police said.
