Cinnaminson Bans Some Overnight Commercial Vehicle Parking
Cinnaminson Township Committee has banned the overnight parking of commercial vehicles on private property.

CINNAMINSON, NJ — Commercial vehicles are no longer allowed to park on private property overnight following actions taken by Cinnaminson Township Committee this week.
But former committeeman Ben Young questioned the purpose of these changes if other aspects of the amended ordinance are not enforced.
Cinnaminson Township Committee gave final approval to a proposed ordinance to amend the part of township code that covers parking and roadway obstructions at its meeting Monday night.

According to the proposed ordinance, the township has determined that a problem exists with people improperly parking their commercial vehicles on private property that they don't own or lease, or even occupy.
This has resulted in public safety concerns and the long-term visual blight within the township, officials said.

The proposal prohibits the parking of commercial vehicles on private property unless it is the subject of an active repair and the owner of the vehicle has an agreement with the property owner.
The owner, lessee or occupant of a private home must make every effort to park and/or store the vehicle in a way that does not result in a visual blight.
An active repair is defined as repair or maintenance that is taking place daily for no longer than two weeks, unless the township approves a longer time period.
The request must be made in writing and set forth the reasons they need for the extension. Anyone who fails to comply will be fined and/or penalized.
“We have a number of things in this, for instance the parking of boats and trailers on streets, and we’re not enforcing it,” Young said. “So if we’re not enforcing that part, why are we amending it?”
The township solicitor told Young they can look into any violations. Monday night’s proposal passed with a vote of 5-0.
