Challenger Among Leaders In Cinnaminson School Board Race

CINNAMINSON, NJ — The challenger was among the three leaders in the Cinnaminson Public School District Board of Education in Tuesday night's elections, according to unofficial results from the Cinnaminson Township Clerk's Office.

Challenger Donna Iacone was ahead of Board of Education Vice President Dolores Woodington in the unofficial vote tally posted online by Burlington County.

These numbers include early voting and some vote-by-mail numbers. It wasn't clear how many outstanding vote-by-mail ballots were yet to be counted.

Results remain unofficial until they are certified. Four candidates ran for three open seats. Projected winners are in bold.

Laura Fitzwater: 2,910
James McGuckin: 2,702
Donna Iacone: 2,623

Dolores Woodington: 1,576

Fitzwater is the Board of Education President, and Woodington is the Board of Education Vice President. McGuckin is also an incumbent board member. Challenger Iacone ran under the slogan, “Achieving Academic Success.”

The winners will be sworn in to the board in January, and will help the school district continue to navigate its way through the coronavirus pandemic, including issues of mask and vaccination mandates.

Cinnaminson Township Committee:

Paul Conda (R): 3,034

Albert Segrest (R): 3,008

Brian Turner (D): 2,432

Brent Lee (D): 2,414

Write-in: 4

Just before the polls closed, a superior court judge in Mercer County reportedly rejected a request from the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) and the League of Women Voters to keep polls open until 9:30 p.m.
