CINNAMINSON, NJ — A special area commemorating the legacy a Cinnaminson man had on Jefferson Health New Jersey was unveiled at the health system’s Cherry Hill hospital earlier this month, officials announced.

The Edward and Patricia Sullivan & Family Solarium Lounge was dedicated in front of more than 30 friends, family, board members and past colleagues at Jefferson Cherry Hill Hospital in October, according to officials.

Edward Sullivan, of Cinnaminson, served as Kennedy Health’s, and later Jefferson Health – New Jersey’s, Senior VP and Chief Legal Officer from 1975 to 2019. He shares the name of the lounge with his wife, Patricia Sullivan.

“I understand the depth and breadth of the effort that stands behind it,” Patricia Sullivan said. “Ed gave of himself selflessly for more than four decades and continuously honored his commitment with excellence and loyalty.”

For more than 40 years, Edward Sullivan provided expert legal guidance and played a key role in many important milestones in Kennedy’s history.

This includes the 1977 affiliation with the UMDNJ-SOM (now Rowan University School of Osteopathic Medicine), and Kennedy’s acquisition of the Cherry Hill and Washington Township hospitals in 1980.

Sullivan also provided legal guidance for the $200 million-plus expansion of the Cherry Hill campus, as well as Kennedy’s merger with Jefferson Health in 2017.

Sullivan chose to continue to support Jefferson Health after his 2019 retirement with a gift of $50,000 to the Jefferson Health - New Jersey Foundation.

The Solarium Lounge, located on the third floor of the hospital in a public area, was dedicated with a plaque in recognition of his generosity.

Although Ed is retired, he still wants “this institution to thrive and to remain vital to its community,” Patricia Sullivan said. She added that the plaque represents his spirit “which will remain [now] and into the future.”
