What sets you apart from the other candidates?
I have unique professional and personal experience that will add perspective, having already faced current challenges our Board of Education is facing: expansion and concerns toward special education.
What past accomplishments or experiences make you qualified for this position?
I am Cinnaminson through and through. I received my start in education here in Cinnaminson, serving as an intern while still in high school at then Rush Elementary School in the Developmental Kindergarten, and I worked summers in maintenance for both the school district and Public Works. As a parent, I volunteered as a coach for both Cinnaminson Soccer and Cinnaminson Baseball and served on their boards, as well. I was a member of the Parks and Rec. Committee, where we supported local activities and athletics. Currently, I am on a newly created committee with focus on addiction education.
Professionally, I began as a special education teacher, class advisor, and coach for a period of 10 years, then an assistant principal for eleven years, and for the last three returned to the classroom serving as the work-based learning coordinator for students with special needs, and now an in-class support teacher and continue to coach. All of my professional experience has been at Moorestown High School since the 2002-2003 school year. Moorestown schools have experienced multiple waves of overall school expansion and expansion of services provided to students with special needs. In my experiences, I have learned a great deal. My hope is to apply what I have learned to assist Cinnaminson Schools and to not only assure but improve our school system.
If elected, what will be your top priorities during your elected term?
To serve our school and community with dignity and respect.
