CINNAMINSON, NJ — National Night Out in Cinnaminson is postponed because of predicted storms.

The annual gathering, originally set for Tuesday, will take place Aug. 29 at Wood Park. A time hasn't been announced, but more details will follow, according to Cinnaminson police.

With forecasters predicting a rainy week, Cinnaminson will be under a flood watch from 5 p.m. Tuesday to 8 a.m. Wednesday. Excessive rainfall could cause flooding during that time, according to the National Weather Service.

National Night Out is an initiative to improve bonds between police and the public during an evening of family fun. Most participating communities hold local NNO events on the first Tuesday of August.

  • Monday night: Mostly clear, with a low around 77. Southwest wind around 5 mph.
  • Tuesday: A slight chance of showers before 11 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m., then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Partly sunny, with a high near 90. Southwest wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
  • Tuesday night: Showers and possibly a thunderstorm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog. Low around 70. Northeast wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
  • Wednesday: Showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm before 2 p.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 77. Northeast wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
