WILLINGBORO, NJ — A Trenton man was sentenced to life in prison without parole in connection with the fatal 2019 shooting of a 26-year-old woman inside a parked car in Willingboro, authorities said.
The sentence was handed down Friday in Burlington County Superior Court to Devon Woods, 28, who was convicted in October of felony murder, robbery and related offenses in Baldwin Lane shooting that killed Deasia Ayres of Willingboro, Burlington County Prosecutor LaChia L. Bradshaw said.
Woods was arrested shortly after the shooting along with Sam Gore of Willingboro and charged with killing Ayres, 26, in the early morning hours of September 18, 2019.

An investigation conducted by the Burlington County Prosecutor’s Office and the Willingboro Township Police Department found that Woods fired a handgun into the victim’s neck and head as she sat in her Dodge Durango during a robbery.
“I commend everyone who was involved in the investigation and prosecution of this defendant,” Prosecutor Bradshaw said. “This case strongly demonstrates our determination to work closely with our law enforcement partners to combat gun violence and maintain safe neighborhoods for Burlington County residents.”
