Man Killed In NJ Police-Involved Shooting: Authorities
One man was killed in a shooting involving three Vineland police officers Saturday morning, according to the Attorney General's Office.
VINELAND, NJ — One man was killed in a shooting involving Vineland police over the weekend, according to the Attorney General’s Office. While it hasn't been confirmed by authorities, it has been reported that the man was using a backhoe to flip multiple vehicles before he was shot.
The Attorney General’s Office provided little detail about the incident, in which three Vineland police officers were also injured.
It took place at about 5:30 a.m. Saturday morning in the Penn Lincoln Mobile Home Park, according to the Attorney General’s Office, which is investigating the shooting.

After the man, who was not identified, was shot by an officer, he received first aid from the officers and emergency medical personnel, according to authorities. He was pronounced dead at 5:48 a.m.
The officers who were injured were treated and released, authorities said. Also on Saturday, the New Jersey State Policemen’s Benevolent Association posted a video on Twitter stating the officers were OK, and sharing a video that was posted by Fox 29.

NBC 10 reports the shooting happened after the man used a backhoe to flip both a police car and an ambulance, among other vehicles. The front porch of a home was also destroyed.
One woman told CBS 3 she was on her way to work when her car was struck. She suffered minor injuries.
The park in which the incident occurred is a 55-and-over community, according to The Daily Journal.
"It was terrifying," one neighbor told 6 ABC about the incident.
This investigation is being conducted pursuant to Attorney General Directive 2019-4, which implements the statutory requirement that the Attorney General’s Office conduct the investigation of any death that occurs during an encounter with a law enforcement officer acting in the officer’s official capacity or while the decedent is in custody, and which establishes clear standards and procedures for conducting such investigations.
