Man Robbed Drive-In Restaurant In Burlington Co.: Police

He was arrested at a nearby business after threatening an employee who was opening the eatery, authorities said.

BURLINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ — A man was arrested Monday after authorities say he robbed a Burlington County restaurant.

The suspect — later identified as Gary Dennis — approached an employee at Stewart's Drive-in in Burlington Township just before 11 a.m. Monday, police said.

Dennis tried to access the outdoor cash register and then demanded money from the victim, who was preparing to open the eatery, police said.

After being denied, Dennis stole an item and made "threatening gestures" indicating he may have been armed, police said. He then fled the scene.

Officers received a description of Dennis and found him at a nearby business. He was arrested without incident, police said.

Dennis, 46, of Burlington Township, was charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking and possession of a controlled dangerous substance. He was brought to the Burlington County Jail, where he remained incarcerated while awaiting a detention hearing as of Thursday.

Dennis did not have an attorney listed in online court records on Friday.
