NJ Transit Shutdowns Continue As Officials Investigate Deadly Crash In BurlCo
An operator was killed and 23 passengers were injured when a train hit a log on the tracks in Burlington County.

BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Much of the River Line will remain closed through Tuesday as authorities investigate a crash that killed an NJ Transit train operator and injured 23 passengers.
Before regular service resumes, officials will continue to "thoroughly evaluate" the area where a light-rail train struck a log on the tracks Monday morning, an NJ Transit spokesperson told Patch. Track repairs are also underway after the deadly crash.
The River Line will remain suspended through Tuesday between Trenton Transit Center and Florence Station. Substitute buses will pick up passengers at each station.

Trains are operating from Florence to the Entertainment Center in Camden — the River Line's southernmost station. But they will have a modified schedule during the Tuesday afternoon peak period.
It's unclear whether any closures or shifts in schedule will last beyond Tuesday.

A southbound River Line train hit a large tree fragment at 6:04 a.m. Monday as it approached Roebling Station in Florence. The operator was killed, and 23 passengers sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

The remaining 19 passengers were unhurt.
The River Line has been shut down between Trenton and Florence stations since the crash.
Five people were injured in a separate incident Friday when a River Line train hit a truck in Burlington Township.
