60 MPH Gusts, Penny-Sized Hail, Lightning In Burlington County
Officials issued a severe thunderstorm warning for part of Burlington County as the storms hit the area Monday.
Update, 3:56 p.m.: The storm which prompted the warning has weakened below "severe" limits, the National Weather Service said. Therefore, the warning will expire at 4 p.m. Monday.
Another severe thunderstorm warning in northeast Burlington County is in effect until 4:30 p.m. Impacted locations include Medford, Lumberton, Mount Holly, Tabernacle, Pemberton, Wrightstown, Jobstown, Columbus, Leisuretowne, Jacksonville, Georgetown, Browns Mills, Medford Lakes, Pemberton Heights, Fort Dix, McGuire AFB and New Egypt.
The severe thunderstorm watch for the entire county remains in effect until 9 p.m. Monday.

Update, 3:49 p.m.: Officials issued a severe thunderstorm warning for northwestern Burlington County after detecting a severe thunderstorm at 3:40 p.m. Monday in Mount Laurel.
The storm was moving north at 35 mph, the National Weather Service said. Hazards include 60-mph gusts and penny-sized hail, according to the federal agency. Damage to roofs, siding, trees and power lines are possible.

The warning is in effect until 4 p.m. Monday.
Impacted locations include Evesham, Mount Laurel, Willingboro, Medford, Lumberton, Burlington, Mount Holly, Beverly, Columbus, Marlton, Jacksonville, Ramblewood, Edgewater Park, Medford Lakes and Moorestown.
For your protection, move to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building, the National Weather Service says.
BURLINGTON COUNTY, NJ — Weather officials expanded a severe thunderstorm watch Monday afternoon to include portions of South Jersey — including Burlington, Camden and Gloucester Counties.
The severe thunderstorm watch for the region began at 1:10 p.m. Monday and is set to run until 9 p.m. The National Weather Service predicted that Monday's storms could bring "damaging" winds of up to 60-70 mph, large hail and flash flooding.
The greatest potential for severe thunderstorms will come after 4 p.m. Monday, the agency said.
The thunderstorm watch now includes the following New Jersey counties: Burlington, Camden, Gloucester, Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth, Morris, Ocean, Salem, Somerset, Sussex and Warren.
Here's the National Weather Service's latest South Jersey forecast as of 1 p.m. Monday:
- Monday afternoon: A chance of showers and thunderstorms, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm after 5 p.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. South wind 10 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
- Monday: Showers and thunderstorms before midnight, then showers likely and possibly a thunderstorm between midnight and 2 a.m., then a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 a.m. Some storms could be severe, with damaging winds and heavy rain. Patchy fog between midnight and 2 a.m. Low around 67. South wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the evening. Winds could gust as high as 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New rainfall amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.
- Tuesday: A chance of showers, then showers and thunderstorms likely after 2 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 83. South wind 5 to 15 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60 percent. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch, except higher amounts possible in thunderstorms.
