Students In Cinnaminson Raise $1K For Local Charities
Westfield Friends School students raised money to make sandwiches for Cathedral Kitchen, and donated the extra money raised to charities.
CINNAMINSON, NJ — Students at Westfield Friends School in Cinnaminson recently raised $1,000 in order to help local charities in time for the holiday season, school officials said.
Students raised money for supplies to make sandwiches to deliver to Cathedral Kitchen. Additional money raised that was not used for supplies went to local charities.
“Our students recognize that they are indeed lucky and are grateful for all that life has given them,” officials said in a statement. “In their gratitude, they are learning the joy of sharing with others.”

Students held a drive-by bake sale to raise the money they needed for supplies. Over the course of three weeks the students in sixth, seventh, and eighth grades took turns baking goods, packaging them for individual sale, and selling them to parents in the car line at the end of the school day.
They then prepared 200 turkey and cheese sandwiches and delivered them to Cathedral Kitchen on Nov. 23. The sandwiches helped Cathedral Kitchen fulfill its mission to “help people out of food insecurity and champion their pursuit of stability and prosperity.”

The students decided to donate the extra money raised and not used for sandwiches to St. Jude's, World Life Fund, American Cancer Society, and Healing the Children.
Said officials: “We’d like to thank our Middle School students for their extraordinary efforts and our Westfield families for their enthusiastic support. We applaud all of our students and families for their continued commitment to serving others.”
