Teen Saves 9-Year-Old Who Fell In Delaware River: Reports
A passing boater saw what happened and brought both juveniles to safety, according to police.
BURLINGTON, NJ — Burlington police are lauding a teen girl who rescued a young boy from the Delaware River on Friday, according to reports.
The incident occurred shortly before 3 p.m. at the boat ramp, police said, when the child accidentally fell into the river and the girl — identified by WPVI as 14-year-old Nylah Bennett — jumped into the water to help keep the 9-year-old boy afloat and calm.
"The boy had slipped off at the end of the ramp and all I could see was his hands out of the water,” Bennett told WPVI. “That's when I knew he was drowning.”
