1 Killed, 1 Injured In Union Co. Shooting Sunday: Prosecutors

The homicide of a 24-year-old man is under investigation, according to Union County prosecutors.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — A 24-year-old was killed in Elizabeth on Sunday, according to Elizabeth Police. The homicide is currently under investigation.

Lamar Turner of West Orange was identified as the victim who was shot and killed, according to Union County prosecutors.

Gunshots were reported in the area of the 200 block of North Broad Street at approximately 3 a.m. on Sunday. Elizabeth Police found Turner at the scene, who had sustained a fatal gunshot injury, according to the preliminary investigation.

A second gunshot victim, a 21-year-old woman, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, was found a short distance away on Julian Place. She was then rushed to University Hospital to be treated for her wounds.

The investigation into the shooting is being led by the Union County Homicide Task Force and the Elizabeth Police Department, as well as assisted by members of the Union County Police Department Ballistics Unit and the Union County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit.
