$10K Reward Offered In Union County Hit-And-Run Crash Investigation

An 18-year-old was hit by a car while crossing Route 1 last week and is in critical condition. Police are still investigating the incident.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — Union County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for more information regarding the hit-and-run crash that occurred on Route 1 last week.

Rayan Bien-Aima, an 18-year-old from Rahway, was hit by a car while crossing the intersection at Aviation Plaza North in Linden on April 25. Linden Police said Bien-Aima remains in critical condition at Newark University Hospital.

According to police, Bien-Aima was crossing Route 1 at approximately 11:15 p.m. when he was hit by a vehicle that is believed to be a dark-colored coupe or sedan. The driver then fled the scene, traveling north on Route 1.

The hit-and-run remains under investigation. Union County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of up to $10,000 for information that results in an indictment and conviction.

"In a tragic case like this, no information is irrelevant," Linden Police Chief David Hart said. "Even the smallest piece of information can be the missing piece that helps identify the vehicle or driver involved in this crash and brings justice to Rayan and his family."
