ASK Kiosks Bring Care To Union County Seniors, Families

Staff will also be able to assist seniors with completing forms needed to apply for county and other benefits.

CLARK, NJ — Union County is hosting four events this month to help senior citizens, families, and caregivers learn about services for aging adults.

The Aging Services Kiosk (ASK) is an initiative that brings professionals to different Union County libraries to go over programs and resources that are available for residents. Information will be shared regarding home-delivered meals, respite care, home care, and other support avenues.

According to the State of New Jersey's latest Plan on Aging report, more than 25 percent of seniors rely solely on their Social Security to cover basic living needs. Of all residents who are ages 60 and over, roughly eight percent are considered poor.

The Union County Division on Aging uses events like the ASK Kiosks to assess the needs of each resident and, if necessary, refer them to partner organizations to make sure they are able to receive adequate resources.

Staff will also be able to assist seniors with completing forms needed to apply for county and other benefits. A bilingual representative will also be on hand for Spanish-speaking residents.
