Clark Schools, Police Release Update On Student With Gun Incident
After a student brought a gun to Arthur L. Johnson High School on Friday, police say the school is safe and classes will resume as normal.
CLARK, NJ — Following the incident that occurred Friday at Arthur L. Johnson High School where a student brought a handgun to school, Clark Schools, Township and Police released a joint statement.
According to the statement, Arthur L. Johnson High School will welcome students back on Monday with a regular bell schedule. Police assured that the building has been thoroughly searched and was found to be safe.
On Friday, the school was immediately placed on lockdown when a student with a handgun was reported in the building. Once the building was deemed safe, students were taken to the Township Municipal Building for pickup.

Clark Police Department is continuing to investigate the incident. Thus far, police said there is no indication that there were any stared threats at the time and no indication that there are any present or future threats related to the incidents.
A 16-year-old boy was arrested on the scene Friday and charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon and third-degree unlawful possession of a firearm in an educational institution. He is currently detained pending a court appearance.

Students may see an officer at school during the day for everyone's comfort and safety, police said.
