Fatal Hit-And-Run In Union Co. Ends In Charges For 22-Year-Old Woman
The 22-year-old was charged in connection with the August hit-and-run, which resulted in the death of a Rahway man, police said.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — An Avenel woman was charged in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash that occurred in Rahway on Aug. 29, police said Wednesday.
Chaylah McCray, 22, was charged with knowingly leaving the scene of a motor vehicle accident resulting in death, according to Rahway Police.
On Monday, Aug. 29 at around 2:59 a.m., police officers discovered 63-year-old Jose Bonilla of Rahway lying on the road, near the intersection of St. Georges Ave. And West Inman Ave. Rahway patrol units called for medical aid, but Bonilla suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead on the scene, police said.

According to witnesses on the scene, a dark-colored vehicle with tinted windows hit Bonilla and left the scene. An investigation by the Rahway Police Department and Union County Prosecutor's Office Homicide Unit resulted in law enforcement locating the suspect Nissan Altima in Elizabeth.
The investigation further determined that McCray was the registered owner of the car and was operating the car on Aug. 29, police said.

McCray reported that her car was stolen later that day, and on Dec. 29, McCray was charged in the death of Bonilla, according to police.
