Rededication At Garwood's Borough Hall Honors Late Officer Haughton
To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the late Officer Thomas Haughton, Garwood police held a rededication ceremony at Borough Hall.
GARWOOD, NJ — To commemorate the 25th anniversary of the late Officer Thomas Haughton, Garwood police held a rededication ceremony outside of Borough Hall this weekend.
Officer Haughton died in a car crash while on duty on November 24, 1995.
Garwood PBA redesigned the area around the flagpole at Borough Hall to include a seating area and a more prominent location for the memorial stone. The rededication ceremony was planned for last year, but the COVID-19 pandemic delayed things. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Todisco, Chief Wright, members of the Garwood Police Department as well as officers from surrounding agencies and surviving family of Officer Haughton (Sister) Maureen Clifford and (Aunt) Hannah Barone.
