23-Year-Old Man Arrested For Murder In Union County

He is being charged for a shooting death in Linden on Sept. 27.

ELIZABETH, NJ — A 23-year-old man was arrested on Tuesday after a deadly shooting in Linden last month.

Yamir Saffold-Davis, of Linden, is charged with first-degree murder, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and second-degree aggravated assault. He was arrested by US Marshals in Elizabeth and taken to Essex County Jail.

At around 3:30 p.m. on Sept. 27, Linden Police responded to the 3100 block of Irene St. for a reported shooting. There, they found Darrell Sanders, 28, of Newark, who had been shot once.

Sanders was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
