2-Year-Old Boy Drowns In Union Co. Backyard Pool: Police

A two-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool in Linden Sunday, according to the Linden Police Department.

UNION COUNTY, NJ - A two-year-old boy drowned in a backyard pool in Linden Sunday, according to the Linden Police Department.

Linden Police and firefighters responded to a 911 call at 5:15 p.m. on the 400 block of McKinley Street for a report of a possible drowning.

According to initial reports, family members located a 2-year-old boy in the backyard pool.

Family members pulled the boy from the pool, and immediately began CPR. The boy was transported to Trinitas Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased a short while later.

The incident remains under joint investigation by the Linden Police Detective Bureau, the Linden Police Juvenile Aid Bureau, and the Union County Homide Task Force.

Police Captain Christopher Guenther told Patch that by practice, the Homicide Task Force is involved in all sudden death investigations.
