Rain Expected For New Year's Eve In Union County

The National Weather Service is predicting moderate to heavy rain late Monday night. Flooding may occur due to already wet grounds.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — The countdown to the end of 2018 is here. For those heading out to celebrate with family and friends don't forget your rain gear.

The National Weather Service is predicting moderate to heavy rain late Monday night. As the grounds are still wet from previous rainy conditions on Friday, localized flooding may occur.

Today: Rain, mainly after 3 p.m. High near 47. Calm wind becoming southeast 5 to 8 mph in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 80 percent. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Tonight: Rain, mainly before 4 a.m. The rain could be heavy at times. Temperature rising to around 55 by 5 a.m. Southeast wind 8 to 14 mph becoming southwest after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 29 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100 percent. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

New Year's Day: Mostly sunny, with a temperature rising to near 56 by 9 a.m., then falling to around 48 during the remainder of the day. Breezy, with a northwest wind 17 to 22 mph, with gusts as high as 43 mph.
