Shots Fired At Union Co. Jersey Gardens Mall Was A Prank: Report
Reports of a shooting and lockdown at the mall in Elizabeth on Sunday were untrue, according to police.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — After reports that shots were fired at Jersey Gardens Mall in Elizabeth on Sunday afternoon, police said it was "some sort of prank," according to NJ.com.
No shots were fired at the mall and the mall was not locked down, according to Elizabeth Police. Police told NJ.com that the incident was under investigation and few details were available.
This false alarm came just days after the mass shooting that took place at Robb Elementary School in Ulvade Texas last Tuesday. An 18-year-old gunman shot and killed 19 children and two teachers at the school.

The false report of the mall shooting came in at about 1 p.m. on Sunday, said Elizabeth Police, and it was unclear whether someone had called 911, reported it to a mall security merchant or some other way, according to NJ.com.
Jersey Gardens Mall, with its 1.3 million square feet of retail space, is one of the state's largest shopping malls.
