Union County Compiles List of Business Offering Discounts to Help Veterans
Union County released a list today of local businesses and organizations that offer services and discounts to help veterans.

Union County today said it is compiling a list of local businesses and organizations that offer services and discounts to help veterans.
Union County Clerk Joanne Rajoppi compiled a list of local businesses and organizations teaming up with her to help United States Armed Forces veterans. The county said a complete list would be posted on its website including all of the local stores, agencies and businesses that offer special military veterans discounts on products, food, entertainment and services.
All veterans will need to do to be eligible for the discounts will be show either an Honorable Discharge identification card or other proof they are a veteran at the time of purchase.

“My office was one of the first in the state more than ten years ago to issue free Honorable Discharge identification cards for veterans as proof of service in the U.S. Armed Forces,” Rajoppi said. “The ID card program has assisted veterans in receiving educational benefits, death benefits, licenses, local property tax rebates and retail discounts intended just for them.”
As more businesses, stores and agencies offer military veteran discounts, they will be added to the list, the county said. Business wanting to be added to the list can provide their information to the Union County Clerk by accessing the Veterans Discount Form on the Union County website.

“Veterans living in Union County can receive a free identification card by bringing their original discharge papers to the County Clerk’s Office in either Westfield or Elizabeth,” Rajoppi said. “This ID card service is just one way to say thank you and make veterans’ lives a little easier.”
