'Unruly' Woman Assaults Train Worker In Union County: NJ Transit

RAHWAY, NJ — An "unruly customer" was charged with aggravated assault on an NJ Transit crew member on Monday morning in Union County, according to NJ Transit.

At about 10:45 a.m. Monday, Rahway Police went onto the Northeast Corridor train #3834 where a woman crew member was reportedly assaulted, said NJ Transit spokesman Everett Merrill.

Lisset Alba, 33, of Rahway was arrested in connection with the assault by New Jersey Transit Police on charges of aggravated assault, interference with transportation and disorderly conduct, said Merrill.

The crew member was taken to Robert Wood Johnson in Rahway.

"At NJ TRANSIT, the safety and security of our employees and customers are paramount. We take all allegations of our employees being assaulted seriously. These actions will not be tolerated, and individuals who contemplate doing harm to our employees will be apprehended and aggressively prosecuted," said Merrill.

Alba faces up to 5 years in prison and fines of up to $15,000 for assault charges against conductors and bus operators.

The train had previously been delayed due to the assault.
