Authorities are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying a body found in the Warinanco Park lake the weekend before last.
The body was recovered from the lake on Sunday, April 5, but investigators have yet to identify the body, authorities said. The body was discovered in the lake near the border of Elizabeth and Roselle.
According to the Union County Prosecutor’s Office, the body is of a black male in his late 30s or early 40s, between 5-foot-7-inches and 5-foot-8-inches and weighing 145 pounds. The body was found wearing green shorts, white long thermal underwear and heavy brown wool socks, authorities said. No evidence of a shirt or shoes was recovered.

The cause of death has yet to be determined and is still listed as undetermined pending addition investigation. Autopsy results indicate the body was either partially or fully submerged for two to three months, the prosecutor’s office said.
The man did not have natural teeth and autopsy results reveal he was a heavy smoker. The man had a tattoo on his right forearm, depicting a heart-shaped figure with a crooked banner extending across it.
