Blood Drive Coming To Cranford In January

Walk-ins and appointments are both welcome.

CRANFORD, NJ — The Cranford Jaycees will host a blood drive on Jan. 18 at the Cranford VFW Hall.

There is currently a "blood emergency" after donations have dropped due to winter weather, widespread flu, and the holidays, the Cranford First Aid Squad said.

Walk-ins and appointments are welcome from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 479 South Ave.

Donors must be "in good health" and meet the following requirements:

  • 17 years or older (16 with a parent's written consent)
  • Have a doctor's written consent if over the age of 75
  • Weigh at least 110 pounds (additional restrictions for those ages 16 to 18)
  • Symptom-free for at least 72 hours after the cold or flu

Additional medications and conditions may bar donors from being eligible. A full list is available on the blood center's website. The event is being held in partnership with the New Jersey Blood Services and New York Blood Services organizations.
