Coastal Storm May Bring Rain, Sleet To Union County: NWS

A wintery mix of rain and sleet is predicted in the Union County area on Thursday, continuing into Friday morning, according to the NWS.

UNION COUNTY, NJ — A coastal storm is expected to impact the Union County area from Thursday to Friday, according to the National Weather Service.

The NWS predicts a slight chance of rain and sleet in Union County before 1 p.m. with winds as high as 21 miles per hour. The chance of participation is 80 percent, but little or no sleet accumulation is expected as of Wednesday afternoon.

Rain is expected to continue throughout Thursday night and into Friday with gusts as high as 34 miles per hour.

While the storm is mainly hitting coastal areas of New Jersey, the NWS warns of potential icy roads that could impact the Thursday morning and evening commute.

A storm total rainfall of one to two inches may lead to minor localized flooding in some areas, according to the NWS.
