Cranford Man Pleads Guilty to Child Porn Distribution

A Cranford man pleaded guilty to distributing child pornography over the Internet, U.S. Attorney Paul J. Fishman announced on Monday.

Andrew Johnson, 30, admitted that he made available images and videos of child pornography on a peer-to-peer file-sharing network, according to documents filed in the case. He was charged with one count of distribution of child pornography.

Johnson was arrested at his Cranford home in May after an undercover law enforcement agent downloaded one image and 14 videos of child pornography from Johnson, according to the U.S. Attorney’s office.

As part of his guilty plea, Johnson agreed to forfeit the computers and accessories he used, as well as register as a sex offender, Fishman said.

Johnson will face a minimum of five years in prison on the charge, with the potential to serve up to 20 years and pay a $250,000 fine.

Fishman credited the special agents working with the FBI’s Child Exploitation Task Force and the Cranford Police Department for their assistance in the arrest of Johnson.

His sentencing is scheduled for April 22.
