Cranford Schools Dismiss Early

Snowfall amounts of 12 to 16 inches are still predicted for this area.

Cranford schools will close at midday in anticipation of the worsening of the heavy snowstorm.

Kindergartners at Brookside Place, Hillside Avenue and Walnut Avenue schools will be dismissed hours early, with morning sessions getting out at 11 a.m. and afternoon sessions at 12:30 p.m. Bloomingdale Avenue School will release its K-A.M. group at 10:45 a.m. and its K-P.M. group at 12:12 p.m. Afternoon Snappy/Ready sessions at Walnut Avenue School have been canceled, with morning students leaving at 10:15 a.m.

Elementary and middle school students will be dismissed at 12:30 p.m. with the exception of Bloomingdale Avenue School, which will dismiss at 12:15. Cranford High School will follow suit at 12:43 p.m.

As of early this morning, the National Weather Service had snowfall predictions for the Cranford area at 12 to 16 inches, with higher amounts possible in some areas. The winter storm warning remains in effect through 6 p.m. Friday.
