Downtown visitors paused along North Union Avenue on Wednesday to watch crews set up a snowy scene in front of what had been Maddie's Hallmark.
Fake snow (a mixture of water and shredded paper) covered the sidewalk and part of the street, narrowing the avenue down to a single lane directed by Cranford police. Just as the filming for a Dunkin' Donuts commercial was about to begin, police shut down the avenue to all traffic.
In the midst of the camera crews and scene hands, four actors waited for their signals, three of them hidden inside snowmen suits and the fourth holding a Dunkin' Donuts coffee and donut.
